Hi sorry to say that its not being screened here in Dunedin but I did watch it on internet. I really enjoyed it and waiting for your next movie to be released. Hope you do come to Dunedin for shooting sometimes in future.

After viewing her movie one may think that she is shy but she is not a shy child in her childhood in one of her interview it was written that, once she danced in a party in her house to get the attention of the guests and I was a tomboy. I was the basketball captain of my school. I grew my hair only after I turned 15. Till then I had a bob-cut! If you’d see the pictures, you’d be scared. I had a uni-brow. It was like one straight line. All my friends were guys. I had two Maharastrian best friends – Reema and Renu and they used to talk in Marathi all the time and I used to try to get it. I was a nerd. I used to read, play sports and paint.

As a student she performed like an average student. She joined Kathak classes at a very early age and learnt this art for 12 years. After that she went to Singapore for two years studying theatre there.
She was so much involved in reading that her librarian advised her to reduce her reading habit otherwise she would have to wear glasses. Maybe due to her habit of reading she developed the art of writing and she is a good writer. Simultaneously she developed the skill of painting too and developed it well. With many actors taking up the brush for social causes and whatever other reasons these days, Sonam too has the world as her canvas.

Her Journey to Bollywood

Sonam was never interested in acting. Direction and writing were her basic interests, but Sanjay Leela Bhansali showed so much confidence in her that he wanted her to be in his film.

After coming back from Singapore she joined Sanjay Leela Bhansali as an assistant for the making of the film Black and gained insight into the art of filmmaking. Sonam was overweight while she was assisting Sanjay Leela Bhansali but the genius of Bhansali spotted the fire and ambition of Sonam and offered her to play the lead role in his forthcoming venture Saanwariya. Sonam Kapoor took the challenge seriously and went for dieting and weight reduction under the expert supervision of her mother Sunita Kapoor, who is a fitness freak, worked towards a single goal, to knock down all those pounds and to get a toned body.

Hi Sonam, I watched the saawariya movie, It was pretty darn cool, I liked the whole story and told all my friends about it. My favorite part in that movie was when you first met the guy, and you two were jumping at the puddles and you were looking towards the camera with all your hair hanging to the left. That was freakin beautiful.
